Voices of My Peers
My English Story Map
This year, we organized an exciting and creative project for our primary school students
called “My English Story Map.” It was designed for children aged 6 to 10 years to help
them learn English sentences, vocabulary, and storytelling in a fun and visual way.
Students chose a short story or a daily routine, such as A Day in the Park or My Morning
Routine, and divided it into 4-6 simple sentences. They drew a pathway or map on A4
sheets showing the story’s journey and illustrated each sentence along the path. For
example, “I see a bird in the tree” was drawn with a tree and a bird, making the story
colourful and easy to understand.
During the activity, students shared their story maps with classmates, reading the
sentences aloud and explaining their drawings. This project helped children practice
English speaking, reading, and vocabulary, while also encouraging creativity, planning,
and presentation skills. The final story maps were displayed in the classroom, creating
an interactive and inspiring learning environment for all students.
