My English Story Map

This year, we organized an exciting and creative project for our primary school students called “My English Story Map.” It was designed for children aged 6 to 10 years to help them learn English sentences, vocabulary, and storytelling in a fun and visual way. Students chose a short story or a daily routine, such as A Day in the Park or My Morning Routine, and divided it into 4-6 simple sentences. They drew a pathway or map on A4 sheets showing the story’s journey and illustrated each sentence along the path. For example, “I see a bird in the tree” was drawn with a tree and a bird, making the story colourful and easy to understand. 

During the activity, students shared their story maps with classmates, reading the sentences aloud and explaining their drawings. This project helped children practice English speaking, reading, and vocabulary, while also encouraging creativity, planning, and presentation skills. The final story maps were displayed in the classroom, creating an interactive and inspiring learning environment for all students.

ENGLISH CAMP

During the Corona season an English camp was designed and conducted to improve four language skills, (listening, speaking, reading and writing ) through many creative and interactive activities .It was conducted for two days and each day, three classes participated . After the project proposal was approved a file of activities was created. Eight separate classrooms were prepared and teachers from neighboring schools participated as resource persons. A colorful opening ceremony was held and six paralleled classes of grade four students participated .After singing the camp song and giving the camp oath they were sent for the prepared classrooms and after  30 minutes students had to move to the other classroom.. Bee Project

“Bee project” is the name given for one of the projects recently introduced through our school annual plan in the year 2025 ‘’Bees’’ are comprised with the students those who were selected from Grade 3 and Grade 4. Those students have demonstrated an outstanding fluency in speaking English while they were experiencing in other classroom activities. This group has been created keeping development of their communication skills through creative and interactive activities as the prime objective. On 7 th November 2025, Bees received an excellent opportunity to watch the film called ‘’Pete’s Dragon” which is a heartwarming story about the friendship, courage and imagination. This event was taken place at our school-smart class room where the morning session was allocated for Grade 3 Bees while the next session was allocated for Grade 4 Bees after a short interval. English Everyday Program (Singing Songs)

Each Friday, we conduct “English Everyday Program” for the students of Grades 3, 4 and 5.  It is an open air stage event. But, we use to have it indoor when the rainy season comes.  I launched this program during the Covid-19 period and still continuing with a great success. The objectives I wanted to achieve through this programe include:    To improve students’ listening comprehension by engaging them in understanding song lyrics.    To develop pronunciation, rhythm and stress patterns through repeated singing.    To enrich students’ vocabulary and expression in a fun and meaningful context.    To promote attitude towards English learning.   To develop the memory and concentration through learning and recalling lyrics.
